What’s wrong with my dog’s paw?
Oh god. My poor, poor doggie. I discovered late tonight in the downstairs that she was limping. I woke up my parents to aware them, and I showed my dad how she walks. She also has little flea bites all over her little, fat body. But, I can just buy her a flea colar (sp?). My main consern (sp?) is her front paw (limp). I admit, it seems lighter and differnt than the other. I don’t understand what she could’ve done to it. I’ve noticed lately that she heaves when I move her sometimes, but she’s kind of old. Middle-aged, I guess. I love her untill the end of the world, and would go to great lengths to help her. We were up in New Jersey today (altogether, she was there for 5), in our summer home/trailer. She could’ve stepped on anything out there! Man, I’ve had her for so long, and I love her to bits. Right now, she’s on my bed, with my camo skirt on her to prevent her from scratching her bug bites and her head in on my t-shirt. Oh, can anyone here tell me what to do? Y_Y
Look at the pads of her paw. Are they red or swollen? If they are she could have stepped on a bee or a splinter and have something stuck in there. If she does and it is not deep in the skin, use some tweezers and gently pull it out. If it’s deep, take her to the vet.
If there is a visable cut take some peroxide and with a q-tip rub it on there. Let that dry the put on some betadine.
If the paw is not red or swollen gently squeeze from the top of her leg down feeling along the bones mostly. If she does not squal out and let you know that hurts it is probably not a serious bone or muscle injury. If you do this and cannot find anything and she keeps limping call the vet.
For the flea bites, they sell a spray at pets stores that is pretty cheap and it stops the itch.
