Without boring an editor, I don’t think “Dog hanged while under vets care”?
would be boring, but from what I have researched editors and anchors are under so much pressure for deadlines, what is the maximum word count under this situation? I am attempting to write “Cause and Effect” type letter, there are alot of facts and emotions. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am not attempting to publicly humiliate, just want pet owners to know.
oh yes…i have proof from the vet, in records. have an attorney. have expert. waiting for it to be filed. i just want my ducks ready to fly when i get the “o.k.” to do it. Thanks for your help!

no, the proper english my friend is “hanged”. This is why, freshen ya up some on grammar:
1.(be suspended or hanging) “The flag hung on the wall”
2. (kill by hanging) “The murderer was hanged on Friday”
So the proper wording is correct.

It’s not the deadline issue to worry about in this situation, it’s the defamation potential. An editor/reporter needs hard facts to write a story like that…It sounds like something really bad happened to you, but it’s a case of your word vs. theirs until a lawsuit is filed. An editor will generally want to write a story like that from a lawsuit, rather than going between you and the vet, because it opens the paper up to being sued in case something is found to be wrong with the story.
So, bottom-line, they likely won’t write something unless you actually file a lawsuit, unless you can COMPLETELY prove what you say happened, i.e. videotape or a written admission of guilt from the vet. — A newspaper editor
