Question about Japanese culture?
I know they use their surnames as their first names and go by their last names, usually. For example, I see Japanese baseball players with their first names on the backs of their jerseys. If a woman from Japan marries an American man, which name do she keep? Does she keep her first or last name? Or does her last name become her first name like the Vietnamese do? My other question about Japanese culture entails animals. Do they have dogs or cats as domestic pets there? Or do they have other animals like rodents or birds?
If a woman from Japan marries a foreign man like an American, she would most likely have her surname/family name changed to his. For example, if a woman named Kagura Sakamoto married a man named Jonathan Miller, her ‘new’ name would be Kagura Miller, but in Japan she’d be Miller Kagura (the family name is said first, then the individual name).
The most common and popular pet in Japan is the cat, but dogs are also very popular, as well as birds and fish and rodents like rabbits/hamsters/guinea pigs. I’m sure that the type of pets in Japan is not much different from the type of pets commonly cared for in the United States.
