How to get my dog to eat out of food bowl, he only likes to eats on the floor?
My dog will not eat out of any food bowl (metal/plastic). He picks the bowl up, and pours it out on the floor. He will do this anywhere we are, he prefers to eat off the floor. He’s a 7 years old Staffordshire Terrier who has done this forever. I have learned that if I don’t want a mess, I will pour it on a mat myself to contain the mess. I’ve even tried gluing the bowl to the floor. How do I stop this behaviour, Is it’s fixable?

If I were you, I would experiment. First, I’d want to figure out what his aversion to eating in a bowl is. When you’ve figured out what he will eat on, see if you can gradually (like over weeks or months) transition to a bowl.
So he will eat on a tray… Try feeding him on a plate. If this works, I’d go to Pic N Save or a thrift store or a dollar store and buy a variety of plates. Get him used to eating on a variety of surfaces and plates. Maybe eating in a dish will help you transition to eating in a bowl.
What if you give him just a tiny bit of food in his bowl? Will he eat that? I’m thinking maybe he doesn’t like his food “deep” and piled on top of itself.
The only other options I can think of are to weight his bowl. (Being a Staffie you don’t have too many options. You’d need to seal it in concrete or something.) Or else perhaps there’s a way to put his bowl on a cage of some sort where if he spills it it will become inaccessible… but if he’s smart he can get around this too.
Or… what about if you put one kernel of dog food in the bowl. Will he go to the trouble to dump it for one kernel? That’s a lot of work on your part to feed him kernel by kernel to train him to eat in the bowl… but testing like this will help you figure out how to train him if you can figure out WHY he won’t eat out of his bowl.
