dog illuminated collars
Does anyone have any experience with LED (illuminated) dog collars?
If so, can you recommend a good brand (in terms of battery life, weight, water-resistance etc.)?
I bought my dogs human head lamps, and threaded them on to their collars. Works great. Based on the design, its probably even water proof (although I’ve not put it to the test). Cheaper and better quality than anything I’ve seen marketed for that purpose.
Another option is to put an LED blinker on your dog (the kind people get for biking). These are much cheaper(<$5), although they do tend to come off and get lost.
Keep your home secure this Christmas with home security systems
This Christmas a lot of people will be going out to company or family Christmas party and so there’s a chance that your home may be left empty, you may even be staying with relatives and be away from your home for prolonged periods of time. This is risky as the holiday period is prime time for burglars and thieves. It is well known that houses will be filled with presents and unfortunately each year there are many homes that are broken into.
This not only means you lose out on presents but there is also the feeling that you are not safe in your own home, this could be even worse than the loss of physical possessions. It is for this reason that we have burglar alarms to serve not only as a way to detect intruders but also to advertise to would-be criminals that your home is protected and that they had better move on.
Burglar alarms are not the only way you can protect your home, although they are the vital core to your home security arrangements. There are burglar alarms that can be remotely monitored or contact you if someone is detected, likewise there are CCTV setups that can connect to the internet now so you can get a live feed from your home anywhere you can get to the internet.
Exterior security lights are important additions to your home as they detect movement and illuminate whoever or whatever is approaching your home. Thieves operate under the cover of darkness so ruining their stealthy approach will cause them to turn around and try elsewhere.
A lot of entries are gained via dog doors or fishing your keys through the letter box, getting a box that attaches to the inside of your letterbox will stop them being able to spot keys left by the front door and there are now dog doors and cat flaps that only open once your pet is near, thanks to a chip on your pet’s collar.
One security measure many homeowners don’t think about is the driveway and surrounding area of their homes. Having gravel driveways and gravel paths around you home will make a sound if anyone walks on them, this way you’ll hear if anyone’s creeping around outside.
Make sure your home is secure with not only house alarms but also secure uPVC double glazing with multiple locks to keep intruders at bay
