Elevated dog food feeders/ Great Dane?
Okay there are different opinion’s on Elevated feeders. I’m getting a Great Dane and I have heard they can get Bloat, and they need elevated feeders to reduce the amount of air ingested but they are very expensive. Then some say it can cause more air with elevated feeders before i buy one i would like to know from other dane owners to see what they use to feed their danes, and what you recommend.

Yes they need to have their food elevated. It’s one of the steps in helping to prevent it. No it’s not the only way to help prevent bloat. There are other triggers. It’s better to raise their dishes then blame yourself later for not doing it, if your dog does bloat. Also it’s better on their front legs & feet.
Also do not free feed. Feed them 3 times a day at first then feed 2x day for the rest of their lives. It’s better to divide their meals up.
If you have a dog that inhales their food put a large rock in the middle to slow them down. Or use a large stainless steel cake pan and spread out the food. You can put a brick in the middle.
Make sure the dog takes a nap or rest for a least an hour after eating.
Don’t let them drink tons of water after exercising or going for a very long walk. Give a little water and let them cool down first.
Most of the time bloat is can be triggered by stress.

Feed a high quality kibble. No grocery store brands. Most of the foods at pets stores are not good for danes. Some of the foods at these stores cost more then high quality kibble. Remember a good food will lower your vet bills down the road.
