Are Proline Invisible Dog Fence collars/receivers interchangable with other receivers?

My Corgi is on her second collar and receiver. Both are Proline and seem to get water in them and then they don’t work. I can’t afford to have the company keep coming out to “check” them, as they charge $100 each time. Please help! Can I get a replacement receiver at local stores? The company we used is one hour away from our home. Thanks.

What Is An Invisible Dog Fence and How Does It Work?

You can’t see it touch or hear it, which is why it is called an invisible dog fence. But it does a good job at keeping your dog in the backyard. The reason why the invisible dog fence was developed was so that dog owners could let their dogs roam around in a predefined area.

The invisible dog fence is used for two main applications. The first one is if you have a dog that just loves to escape from your garden or backyard. You know the type of dog we are talking about, they can jump and even climb fences, squeeze through the smallest gap or dig tunnels beneath the fence. If you have one of these dogs then it is extremely difficult preventing it from escaping. What are your options, you can replace the fence, but with what?

It would have to be a very high fence and it would have to go underground as well, and this type of fence does not come on the cheap. The second situation where you would use a dog fence is if you have a plot of land, but you do not want your dog to have free reign over all of it. You may want to restrict your dog from going to toilet in certain areas, perhaps where your young children play or where you want to protect your grassed lawn.

A good example of an invisible dog fence in use is if you go traveling in your RV and when you stop over you can create an invisible dog fence to contain your dog and stop him from running off into an unfamiliar environment and getting lost. The only trouble with the invisible dog fence is recognizing where the boundary is! The dog fence has two ways it can operate. You can have cable which you can lay underground which then becomes the boundary perimeter, or you can have a wireless fence and a boundary is created using a radio signal. The dog wears an electronic collar and when it approaches the boundary the collar receives a signal and emits an audible warning bleep. If the bleep does not deter your dog then the collar will automatically move up to the next level and deliver a static electric shock to your dog’s neck.

This type of negative correction is very effective, and it will stop your dog from going across the perimeter boundary. To aid in the training of your dog, a number of flags come with the invisible dog fence. You divide these flags up and position them on the boundary edge. It helps greatly with the training as both you and your dog can clearly see where the boundary edge is and your pet will learn not to cross it. You do not need any previous experience in training your dog as the invisible dog fence comes with detailed training, plus tips and advice.
