outdoor dog kennels

outdoor dog kennels
My Doberman has an outdoor kennel and I need something to keep the mosquitoes out of his kennel, and off him?

I live in florida and right now were in wet season, so the mosquitoes are everywhere, and they dwell in the dog house inside the kennel. He takes Heart Gaurd for heart worms, and i use Front Line plus, so the fleas and ticks stay away but the mosquitoes eat him anyway. He is inside with me but from 9-2 hes in his kennel. so I need help, I dont think I should use a human repellent, is there a doggie one??
And would all the mosquitoes go away if I use a lamp thingy near his kennel door. Would that take the whole problem away or just a few?

I dont know what to do, what would help??
Umm he does live in my house, but hes outside for a couple hours in a an expensive kennel I had made for him, so hes safe with fans, a pool, toys, kongs, its chained linked and is the size of a bedroom. Becarful before you talk about things you dont know about, if I didint care, I wouldnt ask a question.

Put mosquito netting over the outside of the kennel- this way he can’t shred it with his paws.

Get rid of all standing water in the area- dump his water bowl every day when you take him in.

Build a bat house near the kennel- bats are the #1 source of mosquito control.

Try citronella sprays around the outside of the kennel- don’t spray your dog.

There are mosquito repellents for dogs but I have never used them- if Frontline + doesn’t work, I don’t know another product to recommend- call your vet.

Hope some of this helps.

Dog Kennel Plans – How To Choose

My husband came home with a golden retriever a few years back and I fell in love with her.  The problem was, my husband didn’t believe that dogs should be in the house and I didn’t like all the dog hair on everything. We live in a warm climate, but it does rain a lot. We wanted her to have her own special space and somewhere to keep her dry.  So we got online and researched Dog Kennel Plans. We were shocked to see how many different plans there were to choose from.

out of all the dog kennel plans available, we finally picked the perfect one and purchased it. Through our extensive research we also found out that pressure treated wood could be bad for her if she was a chewer.  Well, she is still young but doesn’t chew that much.  We just decided we didn’t want to take the chance and will only use the pressure treated wood on the frame work of the dog kennel and we will use the same type of composite building material that we have on our house for the outside and inside walls of her new kennel.  The composite building material really stands up well in rainy climates.

The other important factors to consider when looking for your perfect dog kennel plans is the size of the kennel.  You want to make sure it is big enough for your pet, with plenty of room to move around. If you live in a hot weather climate, you will want to make sure there is plenty of ventilation from all sides. If you live in a cold weather climate, you may want to insulate the walls to protect your pet from the really cold temperatures.

We added an extension to the roof all the way around the dog kennel so that there was extra shade which would also keep the kennel cooler as well as giving her additional shade from the sun and protection from the rain.

When choosing from all the dog kennel plans available, you really need to think about the environment your dog is exposed to and then choose the kennel plan accordingly. You want your pet to be comfortable and safe.

Being a handy man doesn’t come naturally for everyone, but you can still tackle some of these projects if you have a good set of plans and detailed instructions.
