Has anyone worked at Petsmart to get their foot in the door to be a trained dog groomer?
I want to be a dog groomer but the school I am interested in is 4000.00 which I do not have. They do not do financial aide and I have bad credit so I can not get a loan…I looked into all of that. Then, I went into Petsmart the other day to ask if they sell Advantage and decided to talk to someone in the grooming area for advice. The young (very young) girl told me that you can get an education through Petsmart. They pay for your education if you agree to work for 2 years. Has anyone done this and would anyone plz tell me about some positive experiences? So far, I’ve only heard horror stories about Petsmarts grooming area and I’m thinking maybe it is not such a good idea. But, for someone who has no money, needs a carreer, can’t get a loan I am majorly frustrated. Any advice would be so greatly appreciated. I know that not every persons’ experience is a positive one…I just hope there is someone out there who had one with Petsmart that can give me the answers I need.
Actually, that’s what I’m in the process of right now.. (I’m supposed to get certified as a bather as soon as they hire a new cashier.. )..
As far as the “horror stories”.. it really depends on the location.. I am a cashier, and have a lot of time to watch the groomers work.. (well, not a lot of time, but in between customers.. while customers are writing checks etc..) and I would trust them with my dogs.. (and have) They are all really nice, and work really well with the animals.. This is a human mistake issue.. so I’m sure that is not always going to be true at EVERY petsmart across the country.

The size of the dog does not matter or the fact that the animal will be restricted to living inside the house at all times. A prospective pet owner may fall in love with a dachshund breed on a Humane Society pet adoption website and with one telephone call, the future pet owner’s hopes will be doused because there is no fenced yard for the animal to play in each day. With so many pets eligible for adoption, some pet owners believe that adoption rules should be edited on a case by case basis.
Some animals are high-energy breeds and require a large amount of space to exercise in. A pet owner with limited space might have to accommodate the rules and invest in fencing around the back of the home. If the animal is the right pet, the pet owner should not mind this inconvenience. Other requirements are viewed as obstacles to pet ownership. Puppies and kittens cannot be left alone all day while the owners go to work. If nobody is able to be at home, then the pet adoption rules state that the adoption will be denied. Finding the right pet is worth the time, but complying with rules and regulations can take away from the joy of pet ownership.
