designer dog crate
Is it wrong not to instantly love your dog?

I have raised sheepdogs since 1990, Shetland Sheepdogs and Old English. They were never pets but beloved members of the family and I considered them my friends. They were well behaved and gentle. All lived to the age of 14. Last month I lost my last buddy and I have been devastated. He left a huge void in my life and I still grieve. I found exactly the kind of puppy I wanted. He is 9 weeks old, a “designer puppy”. He is precious, adorable, bright, and very energetic. I’m using the crate training method of housebreaking and he’s doing quite well. He sleeps through the night. I intend to give him all of care and attention he deserves, but I haven’t fallen in love with him and this bothers me a lot. I know I’ve probably gotten him way too soon, but he’s here now. Do you think love will come with time? Anybody out there with experience in this matter?

i’m sorry for your loss, but i’m sure if you give it time, you’ll start getting more attached to your new puppy. maybe it was too soon to get the pup in the first place, but he’s in your life now.
try going to puppy kindergarten classes, going for walks etc.. to help you bond with your puppy.
give it time.
good luck :)
