There are no names on the WWII memorial, you must be thinking of the Vietnam memorial. However, off to the south side there is an information station with computer where you can look up information about your grandpa. All you should need is his last name and state, though if your name is common, his first will helpful. Just type it in and it will tell you information about him.
However, this information needs to be submitted. If that hasn’t been done then you will not find it in the computer at the meomorial.
Luckily you can add your grandpa at the registry on the memorial’s official website if it has not already been added: http://www.wwiimemorial.com
This way when you go there you will be able to see it in the computer!
