xsmall dog harness

xsmall dog harness
Would you recommend a harness for…?

for dogs that tend to pull and tug?

I have a min pin who tends to pull while walking. I just purchased a harness but found out I got the wrong size =/ (xsmall is way too tiny).

Should I exchange it for something else? What do you recommend?

wow, there’s some bad advice here. fiurst, harnesses are the best choice, but they wont stop the pulling. You want a harness because small breeds, like a min pin, can actually cause damage to their throat and trachea by pulling on a collar. Pulling on a collar can also increase their intra-ocular pressure (eye pressure) leading to grusome eye injuries. So if you have a puller you NEVER want to use a collar if it is a small dog.

Harnesses will NOT however automatically stop the pulling. Think about it- why do they put sled dogs in harness? To capture all the pulling energy!

You will want a harness that is specifically NO-pull. There are several different styles, all should work well on a small dog. There’s one called “Easy Walk” that gets good reviews.

You can also try a head halter- like a gentle leader or halti. These fit on your dogs head and when he pulls it simply directs his head down and back towards you.

Your final, and maybe best solution, would be to join a training class to learn to heel.

No matter what you decide though, do NOT use a collar on him. They do far more harm than good in small dogs and can cause serious injury. (a collar for ID is ok, but never attach a leash)
